Vocabulary

Princess Lily Earns her Beads includes many words and a subject matter that children may not understand but can learn from.

Chemotherapy

• Special medicine that helps fight the bad cells in the body.
• Can make you feel sick and tired.
• Some people need chemotherapy for a long time.
• The medicine into a port or as tablets to swallow.

Port

• Special surgery is needed to receive a port.
• A port is like a button on your chest.
• People get their medicine through their port.
• You can still play and go swimming if you have a port.
• Some people have a port for a few months, others  few years.

Cancer

• Our bodies are made of lots of cells. Cancer is when some of the cells go wrong.
• There are many different types of cancer.
• You cannot catch  cancer from anyone

Brain Tumor

• Can be a lump in the brain that should not be there.
• They can make you feel tired, sick or dizzy.
• Nothing you do, think or say can cause a brain tumor.
• You cannot ‘catch’ brain tumors from other people.

Radiotherapy

• Treatment using invisible beams.
• Kills bad cells in the body.

Surgery

• An operation by a special doctor.
